SFGate.com, the San Francisco Chronicle’s online newspaper, announced the winners of its annual
voter decided BayList 2008 Best of the Bay for 13 fashion and accessory categories on October 7.  John S. Brana – Distinctive Jewelry won first prize for Best Designer Jewelry based on a voter tally that began in August. He sits in good company as Ashley Morgan Designs, Peggy Li Creations, Gallery of Jewels and Silver Moon Jewelers rounded out the top 5 respectively.

John S. Brana will showcase original jewelry designs during an artistic collaboration with fellow San Francisco artist, Klaus Lange. Brana has handcrafted intricate metal textures, angular shapes and bold jeweled color schemes to complement Lange’s abstract photography printed on silk chiffon art wear.  This latest collection will be released this November at Art People Gallery in the Crocker Galleria, 50 Post Street #41, San Francisco. New work in fine jewelry by the otherwise bridge category designer, John S. Brana – Distinctive Jewelry, proved favorable to the crowd at the Designers by the Bay event held at Shreve & Co. August 21. This newcomer to the list of 20 established fine jewelry exhibitors showcased stunning textured cuffs, sculpted earrings and intricate filigree scrollwork in 18K and 14K gold and fine silver with gemstones. Perhaps his most beautiful new design is a pair of spiraling 14K gold fold formed leaf earrings encasing strands of 13.5carat faceted peridots which, as so many good design ideas occur, happened by accident.
